Welcome to Starting Small
Productions, a website operated by Scott Vosbury. Most of the content of
this page was created while I was a film student in the
School of Film and Animation (SOFA), at Rochester Institute of Technology
in Rochester, NY. I am currently living in Los Angeles, working on visual
effects for feature films at Digital Domain. Please feel free to look

Experimental #1 -
Worst Experimental Film Ever Contest
So when it comes to fall screenings, most upperclassmen
at RIT have nothing to screen, because we're in the middle of projects that
will take six months to a year... So we decided to give them a reason a
screen something at the fall screenings by creating a 60 second - Worst
Experimental Film Ever Contest. Any film that was submitted would be
screened in between the awful freshman films in an attempt
to lighten things up. Well I must have really pissed some of the faculty off
because there was an attempt to shut the whole contest down because we were
poking fun at experimental film... something some (one) of the professors at
RIT takes very seriously. If you're one of those people, don't watch this.
If you're someone that believes some experimental films are great, and most
of the others just suck, you'll love it... I hope. But, feel free to leave me
feedback. |

Crack Addict Dog
My final Intro to 3D Modeling
Project. We had to create a character and an environment for the character.
In addition to that, we had to pose the character, in three different ways
to show his moods/personality. I used Maya 4.0 Unlimited, and am quite
please with the way it came out. Then, a year and a half later, I attempted
to animate crack addict dog... |

Intro to Animation - Messy
Animation
I forget the point of this animation. I think it was
just to make a mess. Nevertheless, I had the most fun making it and I
think it's my best animation. French fries beating the crap out of each
other, who knew? |

Film History: Computer Animation Project
- Duane Palyka
All right. As cheesy as this might
appear, the project is pretty much an inside joke within our department, and
even more so in our class. Duane Palyka is pretty much the Forrest Gump of
the computer animation world, in the respect that he's been present at each
historical hotspot of computer animation. This animation was a simple
display of the events. The reason Duane has a yellow hat and green face in
the ILM scene was because he worked on the movie The Mask. I'm not
sure if that came across. This project
was done using Adobe After Effects. But anyhow, ENJOY! |

Intro to Animation - Cut Animation
This was a cardboard cutout animation, similar to South
Park. However, I didn't use cardboard. This project was done using Adobe
After Effects. |

Intro to Animation - Move
Animation
The purpose of this animation was to learn how to use
the ACME animation stand. Apparently, there are four other people in the
world that look at exactly like me... |
